The II. Sociology Days organized by the Department of Sociology of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Faculty of Arts and Sciences was held on April 27-28, 2026, with wide participation. The event started with a moment of silence and a performance of the National Anthem, followed by musical performances and opening speeches.

During the two-day event, academics, researchers, and students from different universities came together to discuss current areas of sociology. In the sessions held after the opening speeches, art, society, media, technology, and various social issues were evaluated in a multifaceted manner.

On the first day of the program, in the “Art and Society” session, the social dimensions of music, cinema, ritual, storytelling, and visual design were discussed. On the same day, in the Graduate Session, graduate students from the department had the opportunity to present and discuss their academic studies. This session created an important platform for young researchers to share their academic productions.

On the second day of the event, in the “Media and Society” session, social transformations in the context of communication technologies, new media literacy, and artificial intelligence were discussed. In the “Social Issues” session, topics such as migration, social distance, juvenile delinquency, child victimization, and historical-social processes were evaluated.

The II. Sociology Days provided an interdisciplinary discussion platform with contributions from academics from different universities while also helping students to experience scientific thinking and academic sharing culture. The presentations and Q&A sessions held throughout the event created a productive academic interaction environment regarding current issues in sociology.

Thanks were expressed to the academics who contributed to the organization of the event, the speakers who contributed, the students who participated in the musical performance, and all the students who attended, stating that the Sociology Days would continue to contribute to academic sharing in the coming years.
